If you have always wanted to be a professional helicopter pilot there is no better time in the industry than now. With some dedication and hard work you can be a professional helicopter pilot in an industry that has high demand for qualified pilots. With retirement of ex-military personnel and growth in demand for helicopter services throughout the country there is excellent job potential for new helicopter pilots. Some key opportunities for helicopter pilots include:
§ Power line and pipeline construction
§ Long line and external load operations
§ Tours and photo flights
§ Film industry and movie production

§ Logging
§ Emergency medical service
§ Oil rig support
§ Executive transport
§ Private security operations
A career program will take most students 12-18 months after which time most pilots will have completed 200 hours of flight time. At this point most pilots will need to instruct until they have 1,000 hours. We understand that becoming a career helicopter pilot is a big decision and commitment. However, once you have made this commitment few if any helicopter pilots ever look back and you have set yourself in an elite group.
ApexHeli is not a typical flight school. We select a limited number of students each year for our professional pilot program. We select these students based on their dedication, work ethic and professionalism; because once our selected students complete their certifications we offer them a one year position as a commercial pilot and flight instructor. In addition, ApexHeli instructs out of the Robinson R-44 Raven II. The Raven II is one of the top selling helicopters in the world and is quickly becoming a widely used piston helicopter in many commercial operations where turbine helicopters were previously used. The Raven II offers unmatched efficiency, speed and safety that could not be previously offered.
Once you have completed your ratings with ApexHeli and a year as a professional pilot you will have the exact qualifications and training needed to successful as a pilot in the helicopter industry. Apex focuses its program on the key skills a pilot will need to gain long term employment in the helicopter industry including: vertical reference training, external loads and mountain flying.
We look forward to discussing your interest in becoming a career pilot and determining if ApexHeli and your interests are a good match. We are happy to discuss the industry, our program and answer any questions you may have.
New Opportunity for Oregon Coast Tourism & Business Climate Apex Helicopters Moves Business to Florence Oregon
[April 25th, 2011]Florence, Oregon April 6 ,2011 - ApexHeli will bring new excitement and opportunity to the coastal tourism industry and business community. ApexHeli recently moved its business and operations to Florence, Oregon and is now based at the Florence Municipal Airport. In addition to its full range of services ApexHeli provides a new opportunity for tourism adventure on the coast.
ApexHeli will bring new residents and career path opportunities to the Florence area. The helicopter industry has a high demand for new pilots as ex-military pilots reach retirement and areas such as the Gulf of Mexico experience high job growth. Some large companies are experiencing close to 50% retirement rates in the next 5 years; opening a large opportunity for jobs to be filled. Many individuals seeking a career as a pilot move to new areas, just the same as students in college. Apexheli believes that Florence has just the type of community that will attract these students with its tempered climate and abundance of recreation. Student pilots will spend twelve to eighteen months working on certifications, after which time they will instruct for the first 1,000 hours of flight time. ApexHeli expects to have four full time flight instructors working with helicopter and fixed wing students.
In addition to its commercial and training operations ApexHeli sees great opportunity to add new adventure to Oregon Coast Tourism. Millions of tourists visit the Oregon Coast each year; very few have experienced the ocean, light houses and coastal life from the air, let alone a helicopter. A helicopter flight is something that family and friends will talk about for a lifetime. ApexHeli has already partnered with companies such as Sand Master Park; adding additional excitement to the action packed experience of sand boarding, one of the fastest growing sports in the world.
“The community has greeted us with open arms. It’s as if Florence has been hungry for this type of business. The aviation industry has been extremely excited to have a commercial operation in the area and the tourism businesses are eager to partner together. I couldn’t be more excited about the welcoming we have received. We are glad that we can be a part of the community and bring a new opportunity for training and career path to the area.” Byron DeVries, Owner/Operator ApexHeli
